Makin' donuts...pic by trv.netIf you are the type of person who doesn't sleep until the afternoon, you have the chance to experience the Thai Donut. They start selling it very early in the morning in a few places around Patong. It's meant to be a breakfast item and they stop selling it by the time the real party animals get out of bed. You can usually find some until 10am though.

The Thai Donut is actually very tasty and it comes in two versions. One that resembles a butterfly and one that is just round shaped. The butterfly is not sweetened but the round one is. The cost of these delicious pastries is two baht a piece so that shouldn't scare you off.

If you want, you can buy a bag of green slime to dip your donuts in. A bag will usually cost you about six baht and it goes a long way. But if you're not a real sweet tooth, it might be a good idea to skip it. The same goes for the coffee you can buy at these places. It's usually very sweet. But if you are a real sweet tooth, a bag of Thai donuts combined with the green slime and a cup of sweet coffe will truly be a breakfast of champions for you. If not, just buy the donuts and get a cup of ordinary coffe somewhere else.
