"20 Bath's worth of bananas
and peanuts goes a long way here..."
The
Monkeys of Koh Sireh was something Malin and Hanna didn't want to stay away from. After
visiting Wat Koh Sireh, the Sea Gypsy Village and a deserted beach, a stop along the way
back to Phuket Town to check out the monkeys is well worth the effort. Usually, the
monkeys will not come out until late in the afternoon or at sunset. But sometimes they
will be out a little earlier.
If
you want to make sure you get to see them if you go there, come right before sunset.
That's when they all come out to see if there's anyone there to feed them. Lots of Thai
families come here with their children and there are also tourists that find their way
here.
You can
always buy some bananas or peanuts from the vendors who set up shop nearby. If you kneel
down, the monkeys will fetch the goodies right from your hand. Try to get some bananas to
the small ones as well. They are usually a lot more shy and they will be reluctant to
approach you. The bigger ones will try to get all your stuff.

"Being from the rather cold country of Sweden, it's always nice
to see monkeys" Hanna says. "I think it's their resemblance with us
human beings that always puts a smile on our faces" she continues.
"This was a very funny, entertaining and cheap experience"
Malin mentions. "20 Baht's worth of bananas and peanuts goes a long way
here". And it does. Visit the Monkeys of Koh Sireh your- self if you come to
Phuket. They can be found along the road to Koh Sireh from Phuket Town.
