Rawai is the
place to go when you're going somewhere... In competition with nearby Ao Chalong (which
you'll be seeing more of shortly...) this is where the boats depart for the tropical
Islands that surround Phuket. This is something you shouldn't miss out on if you come to
Phuket.
If you want to
go somewhere by boat, all you have to do is to show yourself in Rawai. You don't have to
find someone who can take you. He will find you. You will have the option to take a long
tail boat or a speed boat. It's all a matter of price.
Of course, there's also the option to stay on
steady ground and watch the boats go in and out. There are restaurants and shops if you're
interested in some food or a bottle of water.
"Rawai is so quiet now during the low season" says Koy. "When
the high season gets here it will be a different story. Boats coming and going all the
time, people waiting for their turn to be transported to one of the islands and a long
line of people where there's cold water for sale"

Next week you'll be seeing Ao Chalong, a place with similarities to
Rawaii. They also have boats. And they are all willing to take you out to see some sights.
Read more next week...
