"They even pump water up to the top so there will be any water at all coming down..."

At least there is water...pic by trv.netIf you want to see the Tone Sai Waterfall, you have to travel. Staying in Phuket as a tourist usually means that you stay in Patong, Karon or Kata. To get to Tone Sai Waterfall you have to go north on the island, passed the Heroines Monument towards the airport. But once you get there you will be rewarded with some nice scenery and a relaxed atmosphere. The whole area is well planned and it is clean. There is a restaurant with delicious Thai food, overlooking the water. If you want to see the waterfall, you don't have to walk so far. During the high season in Phuket, the waterfall is not really much of a waterfall so don't expect too much from it. Do, however, take the opportunity to enjoy the surroundings.

"One funny thing about this place is that there is usually lots and lots of squirrels here" Koy mentions. "Some of them are so used to people that they will come very close. It's rare that they will eat from your hand though."

The location of this place is it's biggest weakness. Everything is just right except from that. The fact that you have to travel to get here and that you have to know where it is to find it makes sure that this place is never crowded. Which is nice for those who actually find their way here. No bumping in to other tourists and no waiting list for the restrooms. So if you're looking for a nice and quiet place to just explore by yourself or with a friend, Tone Sai Waterfall is a nice place. If you just want to drop by and take a picture of an impressive waterfall, don't come here.

"
During the high season, when there is no rain, the waterfall is not really a waterfall anymore", says Koy. "They even pump up water to the top so there will be any water at all coming down..."
